HERBAL CRAFTING
Tuesday, September 22nd and 29th, 2026 from 3-5 p.m.
Join me for an afternoon of crafting and blending herbal infusions and/or decoctions. Learn the basics of blending herbal ingredients into delicious beverages, and the benefits of water-based plant extractions. Using a variety of different leaves, flowers, roots, barks and berries we can create unique flavour combinations and experience directly the wonderful benefits of nutritional and medicinal plants. Plant monographs (materia medica) will be presented alongside a wide variety of samples that we will look at, taste, and synergize together into a personal herbal formula. This class is part of Culture Days: A National Celebration of Arts, Culture and Creativity. Please register via this link. By Donation
WEEKLY DROP IN CLASSES
Yang / Yin Yoga
Mondays @ 5:15 p.m. (North Galiano Community Hall – 22790 Porlier Pass Road)
This class is a great weekly practice to build strength, stretch out, and move your body. We start on the mat with gentle warm ups and then move into standing postures and wall work, using props along the way to support ease and establish different variations. Finish on the floor with some gentle relaxing yin yoga, and a long savasana. This class will leave you feeling refreshed, stronger, and at the same time relaxed and open. All levels welcome. Please bring your mat if you have one, and a water bottle. Blocks, straps, mats, bolsters and blankets are available.
Qi Gong
Fridays @ 1:00 p.m. (Lion’s Club – 992 Burrill Road)
Let's gather together and build our energy in this practice that can be done standing or in a chair, indoors or outside in nature. Simple movements are combined with breath and visualization to enhance our sensitivity to chi and the cultivation of our wei chi field. Medical Qi Gong is a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine and has been practiced for thousands of years with many health benefits including improved circulation, balance, and flexibility, and to manage pain. We will work through the three phases of practice which include purging (exhaling through the mouth), tonifying (strengthening the muscles, ligaments, tissues and organs), and regulating (integrating the energy throughout). Attention to the three layers of the physical, energetic and spiritual bodies will be encouraged. These practices are simple, effective, and work to bring the body into a state of wellbeing, relaxation and optimal health. Bring a mat if you have one, and a bottle of water.
