Traditional Uses

Used as a carminative to relieve gas, gas pains, bloating, abdominal cramps, indigestion and constipation. Historically, to treat colic, rheumatism (topically for back pain), congestion and coughing. Boosts mother’s immunity, increases flow of breast milk. Has a mild sedative property; may help with candidiasis. ^1.

Traditional Uses

Traditionally used as a nervine tonic and sedative to treat various nervous disorders such as stress, anxiety, and premenstrual tension. May be used long-term for nervous tension and exhaustion as it relaxes these states while at the same time renewing and reviving the central nervous system. As a neuro-protective can significantly enhance mood without a reduction in energy or cognition; will reduce oxidative stress implicated in neurodegenerative disorders including depression, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Also indicated as an antispasmodic for muscular tension, twitching and tremors. ^1. 2.

Spearmint

Anti-spasmodic; carminative; diaphoretic; diuretic; stimulant

Traditional Uses

Taken as a warm infusion, spearmint leaves will support mild perspiration and is a gentle diuretic that helps with inflammation of the kidneys and bladder, or suppression of the urine. Useful for nausea, vomiting, and upset stomach. Combines well with ginger. A comforting aromatic for asthma sufferers. ^1.

Analgesic; anti-diabetic; anti-inflammatory; antioxidant; antipyretic; purgative; antidote to poisoning

Traditional Uses

Typically used as a nutritive oil derived from its seeds, which adds colour and flavour to food. The flower heads steeped as a tea will relax nerves, coughs and bronchial spasms, as well as boost immunity and lower cholesterol. Safflower petals facilitate bowel movements and can improve conditions of cancer patients. Also used as a preventative for osteoporosis. Applied topically, it may heal bruises, open wounds, rashes and skin disorders. ^1.

Traditional Uses
