About Susan Horning, Herbalist
Susan has been working with herbs for many years while running her small yoga studio and tea house on Commercial Drive. Her interest in tea motivated her to explore many different herbal remedies and her friends helped her design the tasty and unique flavours that are currently offered in her Teahouse. She soon developed an avid interest in medicinal plants that could be made as simple infusions and she found them to be not only refreshing but also encouraged a sense of deep well-being.
As her sensitivity to the plants grew, so did her apothecary of plant material. Most of the dried herbs you find in her teas were sourced carefully from different growers and distributors to seek out organic (where possible), fair trade, and sometimes wild crafted plants.
Susan completed her Chartered Herbalist diploma through Vancouver’s Dominion Herbal college as well as an Intermediate level Herbal Medicine course at the Wild Seed School on Salt Spring Island. She is passionate about her practice and is currently pursuing her licence as a Clinical Herbalist.
In combination with her devoted yoga practice, Susan also offers Feng Shui and astrology consultations using Four Pillars (Bazi) Astrology, Tarot, I-Ching, and teaches public classes in Hatha Yoga, Insight Meditation and certification programs in Thai Yoga Massage. Combining many tools and healing modalities gives her a well-rounded approach to wellbeing.
